a delightful little funky fruited saison, although they had no details about its red color either on their printed beer menu or in their bartender when i asked, but its safe to say this has fruit in it, is wood aged, and has some element of funkiness to it, wild or not. its a stained glass red color but almost immediately flat from the tap, nice aroma of wine tannins, oak, and lactic tang, there might be wine grapes in this, that could be the fruit, maybe a mix with some raspberries and plums or something too, but if this was just red wine grapes i wouldnt be surprised, id love to know. the flavor is even better than the nose, mellow and mature, woody to me and very earthy, even harvest timey. the grain side seems light and simple, the fruit and the ferment are way in front of it anyway. i wish this had more carbonation, the feel is a little thin and watery which takes away from a very unique beer otherwise. not sure why they wouldnt just say what was in here, seems weird to me, but certainly an enjoyable sipper on their big patio on a nice afternoon. not too sour, very nuanced, vinous, full of character. solid beers in here for sure!
