Coming in at 7.3% ABV and 69 IBUs, this beer brings big tropical aromatics along with lasting hop flavor and finish. Fresh Outta Portland was brewed with over 100 pounds of Indie Hops’ fresh Strata Hops grown at Goschie Farms. These hops came straight from the farm to the brewery, nitrogen frozen, and put directly into the packaging tank. The fresh Strata hops are accompanied by Oregon-grown Chinook and Meridian hops, rounded off with dry hopped Mosaic.

Don't recognize the can but remember the name so probably had on tap somewhere. I love fresh hopped beer, and this one wasn't great but better than average.

Clear orangey gold color with adequate foam in the Het Kapittel chalice. Interesting aroma with grain, alfalfa, and a woodsy nose. Slight malty sweetness with that woodsy taste and a distinct dose of caramel. The Strata hops taste quite resiny and spicy. Aftertaste is on the bitter side. This one tastes like fresh hops, and more spicy and even hot than I've encountered. From the 12 oz can purchased at Bridge and Tunnel Bottleshop in Astoria. Dated 08/29/2024.

Banger. 100+ lbs fresh strata / barrel soaked into this year.
I like 2024 10x more than 2023. Not sure why. Fair reason to try it every time.
Massive pine, kiwi, tropics, fresh grass, deep lovely allium. Bitter but so delicious. Suprisingly food friendly, drinkable, gentle on palate.
An amazing early entry to hop season

a fresh hop version of their staple ipa, which i have still not had so cannot compare, but i liked this pretty well, a little more old school and robust overall, some bitterness in the mix which i missed from most of the fresh hop stuff this year, good to have these guys selling beer in boise now! this is done with strata as the fresh hop, a varietal that i think really shines in this context. aroma of pine, coconut, and dried lemon peel, and its oily and sort of sappy to me, woodsy and northwestern, with some high alpha intensity there as well and a decent malt backing, a light bronze glow to this showing more than just pale barley as well. there is a little vegetal hit to the flavor up front, but its not harsh and it moves quickly to juniper, bitter orange, and dried floral character, the hops do stand out as fresh, although there is some pellet bitterness and intensity to this that cannot come from the freshies, so some of the nuance is lost to the other hops in here, but this is a real nice change of pace from most of what else is out there this year, and the bitterness is fully agreeable, not overdone, and there is still plenty of room for the strata, mango and orange juice at the end, spruce, pineapple, and pineapple candy. good malt balance, clean ferment. looking forward to drinking more from these guys as they trickle into the market here...

12oz can, fresh to our market. Pours a beautiful, clear and moderately deep gold with a large bright-white head. Not as explosively hoppy as I'd hoped, mild citrus rind and piney resin, lots of caramel and bready malt, medium bitterness. Definitely not my favorite fresh-hop brew, just not that impressive all around.

Draft at the Handlebar. Hazy golden pour., minimal head, rings of lacing. Aroma is muted orange peel, caramel. Taste is malty, dry, citrus lingers in the background.

Light amber pour, unfiltered but still pretty. Nose is a slightly dank herbal aroma with a bit of pine sawdust. Taste is of course a blast of hop flavor and a pronounced, but not harsh, bitterness, clocking in at a steady 69 IBUs. A very enjoyable beer, made better with the Strata fresh hops. ABV is 7.3%, so be forwarned.

Just about any fresh hop beer from Portland will get my attention, love the style and offerings from this area come fall!
L: Like a dark pilsner? not much malt presence to be seen, and the head quickly dissipates to a fizzy death. Pale gold in color, not much carbonation here. Underwhelming.
S: Nice hop punch in the nose, I get some catty and herbal notes as well as some feint fruity notes.
T: Taste is a bit sharp/ astringent, however the hops do shine through and offer a pleasant feature. Not much sweetness. clean enough, but underwhelming again. Citrus, a bit of stone fruit, some light resin.
F: A bit thin, however clean enough and not terrible. Could benefit from more crystal malt in my humble opinion.
O: Not bad, but not worthy of seeking out really. was enjoyable enough but could be lost in the never-ending sea of ipas. STill always fun to try fresh hop beers straight from the source.

12oz can
Pours two big fingers of semi-soapy white head into my can-style glass. Retention is subpar and the head fizzes away within a minute or so. Initial lacing looks subpar as well. Body is a somewhat cloudy pale orange. Looks below average so far.
Nose is citrus forward, rind, some melon flavors underneath. Not too big, complex, or even fresh. Smells fine, underwhelming.
Flavor profile is largely the same, citrus rind, faint dankness in the finish, small notes of sweet fruit. While the flavor is bigger, it still feels like there is not a whole lot going on.
The mouthfeel does a lot of work here, you can definitely feel a lot of the freshness and hop burn, even if you can’t taste it. There is a big hop bite to this. Carbonation is medium-high as well, and that ups the feel even more. The body itself is relatively light, which is perfectly fine because anything bigger than this would probably be too much with everything else going on. Bitterness is elevated. A touch of sweet fruit, but no real malty sweetness. Overall a nice mouthfeel.
Drinkability is a little rough at times with the burn, but overall pretty good.
Appearance turned out poor, barely any lacing and a head that did not last long.
Overall an underwhelming fresh hop. Flavorful, big, but not complex or full of the flavors I really want, citrus rind doesn’t really cut it. This is 10 times better on draft, so it’s a shame the cans didn’t come through.

Look: Opaque orange and the aggressive pour brings on a billowing head that pillows up nicely and is leaving big-time lacing behind
Aroma: Grapefruit, orange, blueberries, Cannabis flowers, some nice bready malt in the background, and raw hop flowers
Taste: Candied citrus fruits, Cannabis, and blueberries take hold of the palate quickly and as they fade, some nice, sweet bready malt comes into play. Hops keep fighting through and finishes with a huge, resinous hop note and bite
Mouthfeel: Full, slick but not oily, medium-high carbonation, and good dryness on the finish
Overall: This is awesome stuff. Really delicious and strong wet hop character on both the nose and palate but with enough malt support to not be too one-dimensional. As a fan of Straight Outta Portland (the regular non-wet-hopped version), I really wanted to try this and glad I had the chance to as it’s delicious. A great vessel to showcase Strata hops too as this is a huge citrus/Cannabis bomb for me so it’s as advertised. Highly recommended

Can, 2020 release, purchased on vurt's recommendation.
A mildly hazy light orange with a dense white head with good retention and lacing, this looks solid. The nose is bright and pungent, with that fresh hop dankness, earthy, herbal and soft, complementing the wild tropical notes from the Strata hops. Pineapple and melon, gooseberry and grapefruit, dank weed are all present. The underlying malt character is mild, lending a soft doughy note to complement the fresh hop notes. The palate opens bitter and pungent with the unmistakable fresh hop flavors. Richer and deeper than the regular Straight Outta Portland, with an earthy, lemon peel like character to complement the pineapple, coconut and deep citrus flavors. Despite being fruity, this doesn't veer off into juice country. Drying, bitter and creamy on the palate, with the fresh hop softness and earthiness lingering, the mouthfeel is particularly excellent. Creamy, soft, dreamy yet sharp, the alcohol lends a slight bite, complementing the hop bitterness. Quite excellent.
