16oz can
Pours nearly two fingers of dense brown head into my snifter, slightly fizzing. Retention reflects that, and quickly fades as the head turns soapy. Initial lacing looks poor. Body is black, with zero hues even when held to the light. Looks sub-par so far.
Nose is slightly sweet, slightly dry. Some chocolate undertones lead way to a nice fruity Belgian yeast character, notably blueberries; some nice spice as well, cinnamon. Chocolate gets a pretty strong foothold over time. A lovely nose, not super complex, but very inviting.
Chocolate hits almost immediately on the flavor, and there is a good amount of weight to it. Faint roast. Some berry flavors come out wayyy into the finish. Cinnamon comes out over time, and eventually takes most of the attention. A solid flavor, it certainly delivers as a Belgian Stout. Again, not super complex, but it certainly does enough.
Carbonation is medium-high. Body is surprisingly light for a beer of this caliber, it drinks super easy, and there is literally zero alcohol burn. Just barely on the sweet side, this is very clean. Perceived bitterness is pretty low, especially for 60 IBU’s. This is a really wonderful mouthfeel, and possibly where the beer shines the most. The clean, easy drinking nature is very impressive, it somehow covers up the alcohol without being cloying. Some might expect a bigger mouthfeel, but this lighter one fits what's going on here perfectly.
Appearance turned out poor, the head died and there was zero lacing.
Overall a solid flavor, and insanely drinkable. Well done.
