16oz can
Pours two fingers of slightly fizzy white head into my Willi glass. Despite the fizzing, the retention is pretty decent, taking some time for the head to die down. Initial lacing looks ok. Body is a cream shade of yellow, murky, slightly off putting. Looks ok so far.
Nose is odd, very one dimensional, mostly just dank. Dankness is my favorite flavor in hazies, but even this could use a little bit of depth. Upon agitation there are some faint tropical notes, but it is anything but “bursting” with those aromas. Overall it’s just a little bland, almost smells as milky as it looks. Ok.
Flavor has more pop to it, but I’m not sure it comes together right. Dankness certainly asserts itself, fruit remains quite faint. The sweetness here is a little out of place, and it doesn’t sit very well. Indeed a little milky, as some of these hazies can be, all that protein floating around perhaps, idk (no, not referring to sweet lactose, there’s none of that here). This is ok, but I’m not really digging it.
Sweetness affects the mouthfeel probably even more than the flavor, and it’s a little bit cloying. Carbonation is high. Body is pretty big, and thick. Bitterness is mostly present as a hop burn, and not isomerization. While I like the big body, the sweetness is too high and that derails things pretty significantly here.
All things considered, the drinkability is alright, but it could certainly be improved with a better body.
Appearance turned out pretty decent. Head ran away pretty definitively after a bit, but the lacing was nice.
Overall not the best in my opinion; pretty one dimensional, a little too sweet, milky.
