12oz can
Pours a little over a finger of fluffy, creamy tan head into my Boston Lager glass, thought it’s oddly fizzy. Retention is quite nice, with half of the head firmly remaining after a few minutes. Initial lacing looks alright. Body is an orangish amber, high clarity, with a moderate amount of bubbles coming up. Looks pretty good so far.
Nose has a clean lager fermentation character - high attenuation. Light bready quality, faint caramel, some fruity esters in the background. Pretty safe nose, but it’s nice.
Flavor is similar, though the malt shines through better. Mostly bready, some Marris Otter qualities - somewhat rich, especially compared to the nose. Some of that fruit peaks out briefly. Solid flavor.
Carbonation is on the higher side. Pretty light bodied. Malty, but finishes dry. Bitterness is pretty low. Overall the mouthfeel works well.
Drinkability is high. This is on the lighter side, and tasty enough.
Appearance turned out ok. Lacing was pretty poor, but the head left a decent film as it went down the glass.
Overall a quality brew, just not exactly my cup of tea. I’d rather have a malty German lager, or a malty red ale, this is somewhere in between and it doesn’t quite scratch the itch.
