Nanofest PDX 8.27.11.
Golden amber/deep gold cloudy, minimal carbonation and no lacing. Nose is banana, clove, good coriander notes. Taste mirrors nose, thought not very pronounced and not too sweet, if there's any candi sugar here it's very well hidden, some decent floral/grassy notes, Hallertau, a bit of bitterness on backend. Mouthfeel just on light side of medium, not much effervescence, a bit sticky and dry. Without looking at the brewer's website, I can say there is no way this is an American Blonde ale, why would they call it Belgian Blonde?

Poured from tap into pint glass at Nano-brew festival PDX.
According to the brewer description this was "brewed with 100% Belgian malts, and imported Belgian Candi Syrup. Fermented with a tradition Trappist yeast strain [...] without temperature control."
Poured with a good, hazy, golden hue, head quickly dissipates but leaves nice lace. Smells of Belgian yeasts and malts. Lovely honeyed notes with tree fruit, bread, and that 'funk' we all know and love from Belgian Golden Ales (and their US counterparts). The palate confirms the aromatics (don't you just love when that actually happens!). Very rich flavors concentrating on a nice golden delicious apple note with honey and candy notes backing.
The beer is light bodied but wears it well with good texture and lovely balance of the acids, sweetness, and alcohol. Finishes nicely with lingering yeast, candy, and a slight sourness.
This is a very subtle and elegant beer and I might be making a trip to Corvallis soon just to visit this brewery!
