Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, appearing nearly opaque black in the glass with a big, fizzy four finger light brown head that dissipates to a thick cap with good lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa and coffee. Flavor is semi-sweet dark toasted malt, cocoa, light coffee and a hint of vanilla. Very active carbonation cuts some of the flavor, but leaves a nice cocoa and coffee aftertaste. Rather overcarbonated, but with a medium body with hot, prickly carbonation. A modest coffee stout with light coffee and good chocolate flavors. The over active carbonation depletes a flavorful, but attenuated stout base. I like the flavors, but wanted to taste them more than I could. I'm assuming this is an anomalous bottle and I'd try this again for a better gauge of the flavor. Good but flawed carbonation.

$ 13.57 (Including shipping)/bomber ($ 0.617/oz) from Blackwell’s, San Francisco, CA
Undated bottle at 42 degrees into a hand washed and dried JK snifter, allowed to warm to 50 degrees
Aroma – coffee and chocolate. The chocolate disappears quickly and the coffee weakens
Head – average (Maximum 2.1 cm, aggressive pour), light brown, frothy, low density and short retention, diminishing to a three mm frothy ring and a thin ephemeral partial layer
Lacing - none
Body – dark brown/black, opaque. Initially some effervescence but that ended quickly
Flavor – weak coffee, lightly sweetened. No malt, hops, alcohol, nor diacetyl.
Palate – medium, slightly creamy, soft carbonation
Overall, kind of like drinking a McDonald’s iced coffee, except warmer. On the porter-stout spectrum, this seems to me to lie more to the porter end – medium body, low alcohol, slightly sweet.
Appearance 3.5, Aroma 3.5, Flavor 3, Palate 3, Overall 3. Rating 3.15, rDev -12.3%.

Strong coffee notes on this one, slightly overpowering the malts. Wonderful mouthfeel though, very smooth on account of the oats.

22oz bomber purchased from Roth’s Sunnyslope Market in S.Salem. $4.79 Pours thick and viscous black with a half inch tan head. Great aromas of medium roast french coffee, dark chocolate and toasted malts very good. Smooth coffee and chocolate taste..Nice. MOuthfeel is creamy smooth from the oats low carbonation but it helps rather than hurts. Nice stout i could actually drink for breakfast!
