Growler shared by a friend.
Pours a dark brown color with a very thin off white head.
Aromas are nice, I noticed bourbon right of the bat. I don't know if this beer was aged in bourbon barrels or not, but that's the main whiff I got. There is also some cocoa there as well.
Taste is sour. Light cocoa, and anise, then a very tart puckering sourness, almost like a dark sour candy. Finish has notes of roasted malts and is dry.
Mouthfeel is smooth but on the the lighter side.
Overall, and intriguing and interesting tasting beer. Needs a little more body, but the combination of different flavors is quite nice.
