Stoddard's Fine Food & Ale

 

Definitely more of a mix of touristy people/"finance bros" but also there are some great regulars and people who "get it" as far as craft beer fans discovering this gem of a bar. For the coin, there is some fantastic pub fare. The staff is always awesome and friendly in here and whether or not there's something on cask or "lots of drank beer choices" they always seem to have a very well-balanced draft and bottle selection, virtually never disappointed by the beer specials. If you're looking for a date night/night out with friends that won't break the bank, I usually suggest Stoddard's as one of my favorite beer bars, especially as a downtown Boston suggestion.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Visiting Boston for just a few days we stopped in Stoddard's after visiting JM Curley's across the street which had been recommended to us.

Stoddard's was a favourite of the trip. Good Belgian selection and the food we sampled was really good. We loved the vibe, spending our couple hours at the bar.

Next time we visit Boston, we are going back to Stoddard's for sure!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Selection is very good, vibe is pretty good, service is hit or miss, with the misses more frequent and extreme than the hits.

I've been here like 5 times and 4 of those times have had terrible service: inattentive, disrespectful, and snobby servers and bartenders - what is this, Paris? Example: last week my friend (Asian girl) ordered a beer, and the bartender goes "Are you sure you want that? It is an Imperial Stout." Yes, you ageist, sexist, racist asshole, she wanted an Imperial Stout!

I did have excellent service on Black Wednesday last November. The BCBS was pre-poured, passed out promptly, and the bartenders managed to open (and close) about 100 tabs in 7 minutes. I also inquired about buying a GI glass, and the bartender wrapped it up for me for no charge! Needless to say that man got a nice tip.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

We kicked off our Extreme Beerfest weekend here and couldn't have been happier with the pours or our meals. Bartending and service were exceptional.
