The Ditch- Session IPA
4.3% abv 50 IBU's
Collaboration between Wormtown, Enlightenment, and Bluejacket breweries.
We crossed The Ditch (Tasman Sea) to get the hops and yeast for this brew. Fruity aroma high;lighted by notes of melon, passion fruit, and mango. Light body. Tropical fruit bitterness. Clean finish.
On tap at Peppercorns.
Pours a nice fizzy 1 finger head that fades pretty quickly, touch of lacing, clear honey orange color.
Nose brings nice fresh hops, plenty of kiwi hops, that nice NZ earthy grassy aroma with nice tropical fruit fairly resinous as well with a dank musty passion fruit, guava, hint of stone fruit and melon, mild tangerine like citrus, nice light floral tropical fruit, mild malt underneath.
Taste brings hops right away, again big fruity and typical kiwi hops. Very dank and resinous, musty as Hell with that passion fruit again, little mango and guava again, some grapefruit pith and little citrus, med bitterness. Mild malt base with hint of sweetness, fluffy malt. Hint of a grainy dry bready cracker mineral like flavor flash on the finish, dries nicely and gets pretty bitter, more dank resinous flavours, flashes of tropical fruit.
Mouth is med bod, decent carb, little fluffy feeling.
Overall nice, pretty sessionable ipa, bitterness is nice, that great kiwi hop character but very dank and resinous, nice long finish, pretty tasty.
