On-tap at Rail Trail in Hudson, MA. Didn't realize it was a heavy hitter until I looked at the price and style. A solid stout with some hints of maple but this is really all about the barrel and the bourbon. Super bourbon forward in the nose and flavor. Almost knocks you back with the first sniff and sip. Can't tell whether that's awesome or detracting, though. Anyway, still a superb beer and much cheaper than a similar beer, Santa's Little Helper.

Enjoyed at the brewery anniversary party.

A - Poured into a standard tulip a nice dark black hue with a nice two finger mocha head that faded to leave a thick blanket and nice lacing.

S - Aromas of light dark fruit and licorice, good roasted darker malts. Very faint barrel with a woody maple thing going on.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, loads of licorice, nice roast malts, bitterness on the finish. There is a little maple notes, faint, nice barrel notes. As it warms the licorice pops even more.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated with little alcohol. Very nice.

O - Overall this is a very nice ris. There are loads of licorice and roasted malts. Light barrel.
