Cask at the brewery on Birthday #7
Murky auburn maroon color, no head
Nose typical Irish red, toasted reddish malts, little sweet caramel and biscuity notes, but this time with mild cocoa, fresh berries, juicy fruit
Taste cocoa, white choc notes, some berry, little seed, little sweet syrupy notes, then background is typical Irish red ale
Mouth med, light carb

Enjoyed at the brewery anniversary party.
A - Poured into a pint glass a nice chestnut brown almost maple syrup coloured pour. A thin half finger head dissolved to leave thin wisps with no side lacing.
S - Nice light roasted malt aromas along with just a hint of yeasty bread like qualities. Very light raspberry notes and the chocolate mixes nicely with the malts.
T - Taste is slight toasted sweet, carmel malts. There is some very nice raspberry notes, decent red berries. The chocolate continues to mix with the malts nicely.
M - Mouthfeel is lowly carbonated thanks to this being a cask. Not thin, just usual for a cask.
O - This is an incredibly sessionable ale. Nice flavour and all around solid approach to a cask. The berries and chocolate add a nice compliment to the base. Very nicely done.
