Draft at the brewery
Nice rich creamy tan head, decent retention and good lacing, dark black beer
Nose big maple, raw maple syrup, little toasted oak barrel, some dark chocolate and cocoa base beer, little caramel sweetness
Taste mild smoked malt and charred grain, very dark chocolate and burnt roast, hint at acrid, maple but not a ton, mild oak, mild sweet cloying maple, not much of the base beer, sticky sweet finish
Mouth is thicker bod, syrupy, good carb, light alcohol
Overall eh, lots of maple but base beer is mostly gone, cloying too

Enjoyed on tap at the brewery today.
A - Poured a nice dark black brown hue with a thick mocha head that fades to leave light lacing and thin wisps..
S - Aromas of light maple sweetness and flashes of bourbon. Most of the Russian imperial is lost in the barrel and asked maple.
T - Taste is similar to the nose with loads of maple staves and flashes of bourbon. The base Russian imperial is gone somehow. Flashes of booze though.
M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, little crisp, alcohol definitely noticeable.
O - Overall this was a somewhat disappointing rendition. The base beer has been lost somehow and there isn't much maple or bourbon. Really unfortunate.
