From a 16 oz can purchased at the brewery on 11/8/19. Reviewed same day.
Local wet hops from just down the road at Four Star Farms.
This has a very strange coloration. Looks mostly like root beer. A muddled brownish color with a small tan colored foam cap. Spreads out to almost no cover.
The aroma is surprisingly sweet... Malty maple syrup and toasty pine cone style hop smell. Just as odd as the appearance.
Bitter earthy pine tree sap and tangy wild fruits dominates the flavor. A very RAW hop approach. Dry earthy and woodsy flavors all over the place with a higher alpha acids kick than I'm used to! The malt balance is minimal as the rather light bodied and dry feel keeps the hops leafy. The malt has a dark wheat taste and very subtle sweetness to the finish.
This is a muddled, wild and weird style IPA. It's strange, but interesting enough to keep me sipping and wondering.
