A: Unfiltered, a medium shade of honey/amber. Carbonation not apparent. Large fluffy slightly honey tinged head fades to a foam leaving some lacing.
S: Smells of coconut, creamy, metallic, some spice, slight apple smell, and malt. The smells are not pronounced but very subtle.
T: Wow, not what I was expecting. Taste of malt, sour, bitter hops, and a unique aroma which reminds me of moth balls but more like a musty cellar. Also a plasticy taste, a subdued hint of subtle sweet and sour notes. For a split second, I am reminded of a bock in the sweetness. A yeastiness also comes through in the aftertaste.
M: Medium to almost syrupy body, low carbonation. Coats the tongue in a sour, bitter flavour which lingers.
O: A unique style I have never tried before. Not a huge fan of the the flavour, but as a history fan, and a fan of good beer, I really am glad to have tried this. Could see it going well with traditional German foods like sausages and apple fritters.

This unfiltered kellerbier pours a nice copper color with thick, creamy head. Smooth, almost oily, in the mouth, with just a hint of bitterness. Flavorful, but no lingering aftertaste...very easy to drink. Lower alcohol content means you can enjoy a few. A pretty decent example of this style, but probably not the best from the venerable beer heaven of Bamberg.
