Dark body with a caramelly, syrupy smell. Slight taste of coffee and chocolate. I've tried it at several occasions and it has varied more than I'd normally accept in all aspects. At times it has been very crude and felt like they've changed the recipe completely., but still one of the better dubbelbocks I've tried that's available in NZ.

pint at Sprig and Fern Nelson location, 9/3/14
A dark cola, finger of dense foam has great retention leaving a solid coating of lace even after it falls to a thin film
S fruity nut bar, some chocolate, faint molasses, about right for the style with some dark toffee, plum and a hint of maple
T again I'm getting nutty chocolate and fruit, tastes quite similar to the nose
M a little sticky, no booze, leaning towards full, some chocolate covered raisins on the finish
O fairly true to style, nutty dark malt, way to easy to drink for 8%
nothing like a few pints of dopplebock to get the night started, I was glowing after sinking a pair of these in a hurry
