888ml screw-top brown glass jug bottle nabbed at a New World supermarket in Greymouth, New Zealand. I think it was around $10 NZD?
Served cold into stemware.
6.5% ABV.
Rich malty aroma.
TASTE & TEXTURE: Rich malts, high dark malt sweetness, caramel, toffee, stonefruit, bready malts.
Could be better attenuated, but it's not cloyingly sweet fortunately. A more overt herbal hop profile with concomitant bitterness could help bring it into balance.
Smooth, thick, full-bodied, unrefreshing (true to style), a bit overcarbonated, wet, bready and filling.
Overall, it's drinkable but not top tier for the style. I always like to see more wee heavy style beers in the world, but I don't know that this is a particularly worthwhile one. A bit too sweet to be packaged in a bottle that's almost a litre; this would prove a chore to take down if I wasn't sharing it with others.
