Uptown on King Street. A nice place to stop in while perusing the shops.

The selection is above average - lots of locals minus Westbrook and Coast (an ongoing theme in CHS). The big negative here is no flights but one pre-established for the day. So if you want to try whatever beer, you can get a shot glass full or a 12 oz pour. That aside, service was great with the bartenders being very nice. Would go back again but not for than one drink.

Fantastic beer bar. Great atmosphere and eclectic decor, including Michael Jackson book pages wallpapering the restrooms. Unusual unique artworks, taxidermy, rustic wood paneling, collections of stuff, just lots to look at in a comfortable setting. Tables and bar seating up front, full kitchen with a dining room in the back, including some cozy booths.

We sat at the bar, and got very good service. The bartender was helpful and accommodated my requests for samples, and tried a few himself since many were new for his shift. They had a tap takeover even the previous night for Charleston beer week, 40+ taps, all SC beers. I easily tried over a dozen local beers during my visit. There were too many to keep track of, and I had to narrow down a short list of ones I wanted to try. Freehouse Life of Don was a highlight, and Holy City Yeast Wrangler fresh on tap was great.

Food: Fried green beans were seriously addictive, served with a homemade ranch and crispy with tempura. Fried buffalo oysters were unique and pretty tasty too. Menu was mainly apps and sandwiches.

Overall, CFB is a must if you're in Charleston.

C4B has helped usher the craft beer scene into Charleston. Great location, rotating selection, and great food. Really neat beer encycolpedia wallpaper in the restrooms. Great vibe, but get there early.

Big bar area and ample seating for dining. Large selection of Local and national handcraft beer on tap. Full service liquor bar. Tasty lunch spot; try the grilled cheese and tomato soup. Easy to find downtown, with on street metered parking.

Only stopped in for a few burs last night (no food). Cool vibe, very craft focused - some pretty rare and unexpected selections (Crooked Stave Surette... Whaaaaat?!?!). Menu looked pretty limited, and unhealthy / bar food focused, so I didn't bother getting an app. Service was great, although I'm not very needy. Pretty young and friendly crowd. Definitely hit this place up if you're in Charleston.

This place is awesome.
Vibe: Very comfortable, almost cabin-like decor and vibe, but all with an unmistakably Southern aesthetic.
Quality: Pretty damn good.
Service: Sat at the bar a few nights, and seated one night. Had great service both times.
Selection: Rotating tap list is pretty great if you ask me - lots of Allagash and Bells, etc., as expected, but also a great mix of local beers. I tried tons of beers not available in Colorado (but they had those too). Avery Lilikoi to name one.
Food: This place shines here. Get the Pork Slap sandwich or the Spicy Chicken Sandwich and we'll be in agreement.

Had high expectations based on the reviews. Maybe I was grumpy or it was a bad night for them. Unimpressed. Spend your time in Charleston bar hopping!

Love CFB. They always have a terrific, varied selection. Their staff is knowledgeable and loves beer. The table service can sometimes be a bit slow but the bar service is awesome.

An old store front in Downtown Charleston houses Closed for Business. Walking in you are greeted by a long bar to the right and lounge chairs to the left. Dim pendant lights dangle from the ceiling and wood is everywhere you look. The bar is dimly lit all around. A set of washrooms break up the bar area and back seating area. Behind the cozy bar sits what reminds me of a library. There are odds and ends along the shelves, pictures, knick-knacks, old books, and bottles of booze. Simply noticing everything displayed could take you half the night. A couple chalkboards hang between the bric a brac and advertise what's new on the taplist and what's coming next.

The taplist is extensive, 40 or so handles, with beers being broken down by style. Multiple sized pours for each are also available, labeled, and priced. I like that option. Beer was focused largely on the Carolinas but there were a good amount of other states represented as well. The bartenders were quick to chat both nights I stopped in, giving us a rundown of some new taps and of the area. Picked up some good advice. Prices were fair and there were some damn fine choices to be had. I'm pretty sure I drank a couple gallons of Duck Rabbit's Baltic Porter while I wasted away the nights.

Very nice bar with decent food and friendly service. I actually went there multiple times during my short visit and there was quite a bit of change in the tap list (always a good sign). The service fluctuated between superb and good the times I went was definitely dependent on busy-ness.

There was a good selection of locals, rare-ish, and other beers on their many taps. They were awesome about questions, samples, and everything.

Food was delicious as well.

Would go back in a second. Wish it was closer to me.

Stopped here for lunch while touring Charleston and really enjoyed it. Loved the quirky atmosphere, pub style with modern touches. Service was very friendly and helpful. I managed to spill two large glasses of water and our waitress was so nice about the huge mess. Even offered to replace my sons almost gone fries that were lost in the flood. Really appreciated her kindness. The beer battered onion rings were fantastic, my son had the pork slap sandwich and reported it delicious. I had the waldorf salad and it was ok but not great. My husband had the cobb salad and loved it. it looked much better than mine also. As for beer they had the Palmetto homefront IPA, Stone Saison and Gratzer Westbrook reported to be very unique. The first two beer were very good especially the Stone but we knew it would be. We would go back here if I hadn't made such a mess and am probably banned.

This is my favorite beer bar in Charleston. The design of the bar is very alpine like. There is a great warmth to the place. There is a nice seating area with leather chairs and a sofa along with high top tables and the bar. There are lots of Breweriana collectables decorating the walls. The ceiling fans are also unique. The staff are very welcoming, knowledgeable and prompt with their service. The selection is great any time I go in to visit. They always have a good variety and quality of beer selections. The food was very tasty as well. The pork slap sandwich was outstanding. Prices were line with their quality. A must visit place for any fan of craft beer.

Visited Jan 22 2014 on a COLD Wednesday evening, so it wasn't very crowded. Absolutely outstanding beer selection. (Food - I had the mussels - wasn't too shabby either, but that wasn't why I was there.)

Wait staff was very knowledgeable, and very enthusiastic about their offerings. Service was prompt - really can't say enough good things about the experience!

This is on King Street in Charleston, so expect to spend more than you'd like. But it's worth it.

We had to wait in line to get in. Only 10 min or so but once we got in we had a good time. The seat yourself was confusing for such a busy place but the good was good and the selection top notch. There seems to be two bars, one on front that was full and one in the back that seemed like a service bar

This place is awesome. Probably the best bar in Charleston in my opinion. HUGE selection of great beers in a variety of sizes. The best draft beer selection in Charleston.

This place has big bar and lots of seating throughout the rest of the restaurant. The decor in the restaurant is really cool and it has the perfect bar ambiance. The food is also really good. They sort of have poutine! It's not as good as the real stuff but it's a rare offering in the States. Especially so far South.

It is a pretty expensive bar though (as are most places on King St.). My only complaint is that I can't afford to go here as often as I want.

As I walk in, there is a spacious L shaped bar, and several low top tables going down the long and narrow dinning area. There are some couches to relax on and plenty of eclectic stuff on the wall.

I find a spot at the bar, and the service is top notch. Friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. He knew about the different beers, recommended stuff from the food menu, and obviously takes pride in what CfB has to offer.

Plenty of stuff on tap. Had some Westbrook IPA, Coast Porter, and Grand Teton Oud Bruin. Definitely one of the better beer bars in town. They had a cask engine as well, but nothing was on when I visited.

The food menu is on the smaller side. I went with the Mussels. While the Mussels were of great quality and flavorful, they were topped with fries and a mayo aioli sauce. That sounded just crazy enough to work, but it was a bit of overload. Mussels...great, fries...good, aioli...over barring, and they did not mix that well with the bivalves IMO. I am going to have to go with the Pork Slap, or one of their other items next time.

A great atmosphere, a very good beer selection, great service, and interesting food (even though I was not in love with what I had). I am a fan.

I was able to stop by for an extended visit during my stay in Charleston.

This is not that big of an establishment. There is a small bar to your right as you enter. Tables against the wall and more seating in the back room. There are two unisex bathrooms between the two main spaces.

I only saw one TV, so go for the beer and not the ability to watch the games. Rock tunes in the background were turned low enough to not inhibit conversation.

The table service is friendly, and knowledgeable but a touch slow. I was ok with it as we were not in any big hurry.

The menu is not huge, but what we had was a solid yeoman like effort. I think most folks will find something they will like.

Beer is the star here. They have a solid selection of taps that are broke out by color and or style. I like that you can get 10 oz, 16 oz or full liters. The 10 ozs are a great way to really sample a lot of beers. They also offer flights which is always nice to see.

I will have no hesitation going back next time I'm in this gem of a city.

Beautiful little beer bar decor is nice lots of wood flickering lights in the fireplace bring back childhood.

Nice beer selection not hundreds of taps but good quality brews all around. Nice selection of local brews plus more notable beer from around the country.

Service was good warned me about what I was ordering which might be valuable to someone not familiar with good beer.

Selection again not huge but good quality all around.

Only had the onion strings they were good.

Prices seem reasonable better then many places at home. Would highly recomend this place if your vacationing in Charleston.

Cool little bar that has the best selection of craft on tap in Charleston.

Bar is near the student section of town and has a fairly laid back vibe for hoighty-toighty Charleston and reasonable prices with most pints at about $5.50. Lots of wood and vintage stuff in the decor, perhaps a tad fancy looking for my tastes but I think fanciness is just a reality of the city. Good selection of taps that go across an excellent samplings of styles and quite a few countries. Not a 100 tap megabar, but I don't really like those anyways.

Bar tender was friendly and knowledgeable. I went in a bit after lunchtime so it was empty, but I am told that it gets busy in the evenings.

One of the neatest things about this bar is that they offer 10oz, pints, and liter servings of all their beer. I do not know why every bar does not do this.

If I was in Charleston and looking for a good beer, this is the place I would go.

Went there on a business trip. Hands down the best craft beer bar in the city. Reasonable prices, laid back atmosphere, and good bartenders. Decent selection of local, and national craft beers. I was only in the city for 3 days, but went there 2 out of 3 days. I Recommend this bar. Bells 2 Hearted Ale, Ranger Ipa,, Stone Russian Imperial Stout, Coastal + Holy. I didn't eat there, so no imput on the food. Nice bar, and a lot of sofas , chairs if you come with a group. I like that it is in a more laid back section of Charleston

I without reservation recommend Closed for Business. the ambiance has the charm of a living room in a cabin retreat: sofas and worn stuffed chairs strategically placed in proximity to a fire place. For those seeking refuge near the taps, they have ample stools at the bar. They have a relatively extensive draught selection which is geographically representative of national and international brews. They honor the local beer culture by carrying at least one style from Charleston/Mt. Pleasant breweries. In addition, they offer growlers of all tapped brews. I believe they welcome growlers purchased at other establishments.

Now anyone who knows me will attest that I am very low maintenance and demand very little. I was excited to play the host and bring a large group of colleagues to this bar. Many of them were beer geeks from the Chicago area.

Initially as we entered we were very impressed with the tap list. There were so many to try. Unfortunately I had to ask for 3 that I was told "we are out of that." After my first beer "COASTs Daves Brown Ale" (excellent!) I once again had to name 3 more off the menu until I found one that they actually had. Again it was local (Holy Citys Earthworm Rye, again awesome).

The food was outstanding. Based upon a recommendation on here I asked for the Pountine. This is now hands down my new favorite bar food. Everyone at the table was impressed with their selections. Even though it was busy the waitress still was able to give us the attention we needed.

I brought people there to show off our local beer scene and to let them drink local. It was disconcerting that many of the local beers were "out."

This is my favorite Beer Bar in Charleston. They have excellent food and one of the better Beer lists in town. They offer different size drafts so you can sample more beers here that your regular bar, the downside is that they are a little on the pricey side. They carry plenty of the local and regional offerings as well as imports all served in proper glassware. Ther is cask offering as well. The atmosphere is a reflection of the city as you will see plenty of tourists mixing it up with the college crowd. I feel this place is worthy of a stop if you are visiting Charleston.

A smallish bar with a cozy feel and a decidedly hipster beer-bar crowd. The decor is creatively eclectic with lots of beer signs and interesting light fixtures. The beer selection is very good, bordering on excellent. They had a good mix of local brews, highly regarded craft beers, and a handful of rarities. Not on the level of a place like the Brickstore or Toronado, but quite good.

Service was good, considering the crowd and the servers seemed to be reasonably well versed on the beers that were on tap. Beers were served from clean lines and into proper glassware where applicable.

The food was the real standout, the menu is small but well thought out. Good sandwiches and some beer cuisine such as mussels cooked in beer. Poutine at a beer bar in South Carolina? That alone makes this a must visit for any BA in Charleston.
