"Start" weizenbier unfiltriert. 33cl bottle acquired in Zurich, Switzerland and served into a generic drinking glass. 5.0% according to my bottle. Reviewed from notes taken in June 2010.
A: Pours a 1.5 finger head of no cream, very thin, and of poor retention. Body colour is a cloudy yellow.
Sm: Lemon citrus esters over top a simple wheat foundation. Average in strength.
T: Lemon citrus esters. Wheat. That's it. Rather imbalanced, but relatively refreshing. It's painfully simple.
Mf: Smooth and wet, but not enough on either count to suit the refreshing feel it aims for. Complements the flavours, but there's far more to be done here.
Dr: Pretty decent for the style and affordable by Swiss standards. Easy to drink. Worth a try if you come across it, but it isn't worth seeking out.

(From notes)
Very light lemon yellow hue that is only slightly hazy; thinner pure white head that holds OK, but not much lacing.
Mild yeastiness and citrus fruit comes in mostly for the aroma, and within the style but a bit too sweet and bready for what I would look for in a wit. Only slight citric tartness in the flavor, some orange, pretty bland and a touch too sweet for the style. Yeastiness comes through in a bit more of a hefe way. Body is a little slick, and carbonation is muted. Fairly thin. Not great drinking as it stopped short of being refreshing or interesting. Kinda off for the style as well. Not a terrible brew, but nothing to write home about either.
