I think every time Schmaltz brews something I like, it's never going to be around long. I almost cried when I couldn't find this one anymore. I LOVE that rye spiciness and warmth the decent alky content brings out. Boo to the freaking hoo.
I do recommend drinking em whilst they are good and cold. If you nurse your beers and use a nipple, this may not be the beer for you.

Poured from a bomber into a snifter. Golden brown and clear with a light brown fluffy head, decent lacing. Sweet caramel smell. Rich mouth feel and slightly boozy taste. Sweet and slightly citrusy. Cinnamony and a bit of orange peal. It went well with a beef dish.

Opened with strong whoosh! Semi-gusher

Pours a super effervescent amber with 4+ fingers of cream colored head, hope its not infected..

S: Pears, breadyness, peppery notes

T: Pears, a bit of funk, peppery spice, pineapple, white grape & apple brandy & honey up front. Rye boozeyness comes through in a good way as this warms, plus honey & pears as this warms, intense oaky dryness. Finishes dry, peppery, fruity, with a little figgyness, some grapefruit pith

MF: Fairly chewy, firm carbonation, warming, carbonation gets a bit prickly as it warms, thins out a bit too

Started strong, but flaws surfaced as this warmed, had the potential for greatness. Went from complex & rich to a bit disjointed as the wheels fell off somewhat... Despite the descriptors this is less DIPA, more American Strong ale with a twist...
