When poured from the bottle it was explosive! Enormous dense tan colored head quickly filling the glass, thus needing a very careful pour with frequent top ups from the bottle.

Deep dark colour, though not black. Aroma was malty roasted and dry, burnt caramel and spicy. Have to say - sadly - I did not enjoy this at all, I was expecting some sweetness as with most German Dobblebock Wheat beers, but this was very dry, bitter and hints of sourness and a very peppery aftertaste from the added chilli. Although labelled at 5.6% it tasted much stronger than that, though maybe a result of the burning chilli taste on the throat!

An interesting and unusual beer, and if you like that sort of thing, worth trying, though - sorry - it was simply not to my taste at all. Would not try it again.

This is a very interesting brew. I was slightly worried about the chilli since i have strongly disliked most chilli beers that i have tried...

That is probably because they tend to be brewed from adjunct grains I guess whereas this is a real Dunkelweizenbock brewed with real ingredients.

The chilli is subtle and gives a bit of kick t the brew without drowning out its flavours...
