Fascinating beer. Obviously USA influenced but never anything but an English IPA.. (Even given the 7.7 ABV)
Dark Amber pour, murky with chill haze and plenty of yeastie goodness.
Nose is big. Orange rind malts, cereal with generous honey, caramel, warming alcohol, fresh cut grass, a hint of pine. A monster.
Once warmed appropriately this is awesome. Like an English vintage ale but with a bhutt load of fresh hops. Big malt body of caramel, some honey, more orange and raw cereal. The hops are generous: pine, fresh grass and a hint of lemon. Prickling and warming alcohols.
Feel is medium full, slightly spicy and low carb.
I've marked up on "overall" for x Factor. Definitely an English beer given the big caramelly malts. but a good nod to the yanks.
