Bottle: Poured a reddish/amber color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma of caramel malt notes with stem fruity notes. Taste is also a mix of caramel and fruity notes with light yeasty notes. Body slight with good carbonation. Strong amber ale with limited flavor profile.

Copenhagen 25/12 2022. 50 cl heavy glass bottle from Supermarco, Støbegodsvej. Kbh. SV. A simple back label with a painted red quadrant.

Pours unclear dark amber with a re hue and a small off-white head. Settles as thin patch of foam floating in the middle of the glass. No lacing.

Aroma is fairly intense with a sweet, malty and slightly sugary scent with a touch of sweet lemonade. Caramel, toffee, and hints of brown sugar and fudge.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a more moderate tart sourish bitterness. Aftertaste is sweetish wit a tart undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.

Somewhat too sweet for my taste buds but not without it's own malty charm.

Bottle 0.75L.
Dark amber/red body with an average, frothy, tan head, mostly diminishing with some lacing, though.
Moderate malty (roasted, caramel) aroma with notes of licorice and dark chocolate.
Moderate sweet and light bitter flavour with a long-lasting complex finish with notes of red fruits.
Medium body with oily texture; soft carbonation.

It seems that I prematurely wrapped up my recent deep-delve into my backlog of foreign & imported beers! I had purchased several on clearance from the Country Garden Six-Pack & set them aside, only to run into the usual out-of-sight, out-of-mind problem. No time like the present!

From the Bottle (!): "Unpasteurized Red Ale beer naturally re-fermented in the bottle. A beer with a great personality."; "Pleasantly sweet with intense and spicy aroma of caramel, malt, hazelnuts and a very persistent finish."

I gently removed the plastic wrapper from around the neck, Pop!ped the cap & started a very slow, gentle C-Line pour into the awaiting goblet (balloon glass?). It was carbonated, but my gentility was not conducive to head formation. I then gave it a vigorous in-glass swirl to briefly raise just under two fingers of dense, foamy, fizzy, deep-tan/light-brown head with decent retention. Color was Brown to Dark Brown (SRM = > 17, < 22) with NE-quality clarity & scarlet highlights. Nose had a nutty, caramel spiciness & my mouth was watering as a result. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, not watery, but definitely thin for the style. The taste was savory with an interesting slightly-tart tang that made me realize why they mentioned marinated veggies & sweet & sour. This beer was exactly all of that! It was nutty, spicy, caramel sweet, slightly salty, toasty, just a real exercise for the taste buds! Mmm. It was not precisely to Style, but it was still very good. Finish was quite dry, probably the result of my extended bottle conditioning. I am really glad that I bought this & I am now intrigued to try more of their beers. i like this quite a bit less than some of the others from these guys. its a deep red color, a hint at how sweet and malty it is, with a minimal and fading white head. a little haze to the dark amber liquid and a nose of dryer red malt and the same slightly funky yeast that manifests itself in all the beers in this series. i see sugar as an ingredient, suggesting the additive to increase the abv here, which i dont think adds anything. the yeast flavors this one less than the others, and in fact seems a bit underdone, like it didnt get all the sugar out. the dominant flavor here is the grain, which is a tad stale, but richer and robustly earthy. some dried fruit on the back end, red apples and figs. almost a saison style finish to this, well carbonated but still a bit heavy and sweet. i can almost feel a headache coming on, dont know what it is with these, but thats the case. an enjoyable brew, but the others were a little better i think. the 8% abv hits harder than it should.
