Copper in color with e white head

Smells toasty with a prominent malt presence.

Taste is little more subtle than I was expecting. Sweet and malty with a dry finish.

This is a pretty easy-drinking Marzen, but not especially noteworthy. I would get it again if I saw it, but I wouldn't seek it out.

Judging by the big fruity notes (and the fact that, as far as I can tell, Lefty's has never brewed a lager), I'm guessing that this isn't really a Märzen but a "Märzen-inspired ale." Still, it looks pretty great, albeit somewhat dark for a Märzen. A lovely head and a nice, moderately chewy mouthfeel make it appealing. The fruity esters from the yeast are odd, and there isn't much of the classic German melanoidin notes one gets from a great Märzen. However, those factors are not off-putting. Caramel and toffee dominate, and overall it's pretty tasty. True to style? Well, no, but still enjoyable.

A - Deep amber body with moderate haze below a thin white head leaves moderate lacing.
S - Caramel, toffee, burnt sugar, but not unpleasant.
T - Malt forward for sure. The hops are not detectable, but they must being doing their job. Toffee, caramel, residual sweetness.
M - Medium to thick body, low carb. Coats the palate and lingers. Seems a little too heavy.
O - This is fine marzen. Good for the cooler weather. Give it a shot. I always like Lefty's brews because they are reasonably priced and therefore worth trying at l east once.

A- 22oz poured to a few pint glasses and a chalice with a fairly deep toasty brown body with some deep amber at the edges. A thick, creamy tan cap forms to over a finger with decent retention. Puffy pillow and ring leaves multiple sheets and many spots of lace.

S- Malty throughout with mostly a toasted character and medium brown sugar sweets hinted at. Something spicy, bready, butter and a hint of fruits.

T- Malty for the most part again but some spicy, earthy bitterness comes into play. Toasty, biscuit, brown sugar, something spicy like nutmeg, bread and mostly clean with just a tiny bit of fruit.

MF- Puffy light-medium body with a texture that has a hint of creaminess and is frothy. Carbonation right about medium-high and quite smooth. Fairly bitter finish for the style.

Hmm, a nice take on the style for sure. Mostly malty but still some yeast and hop influence. I just enjoy the overall balance of the toasty grain and the other semi-sweet malts.

A: clear; brownish auburn - a little darker than I expected; less than a 1 finger off white head that receded quickly; no lacing;

S: sweet caramel malt; a little astringency;

T: sweet malt throughout; a touch of astringent bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation;

O: a bit too sweet for my taste;
