Dark reddish mahogany with an off-white head that disappears quickly. Big caramel malt aroma with some dark fruit. A bit smoky and peaty. Flavors include lots of caramel, raisin, and fig. Definite smoke presence with retro-olfaction, and in the finish and aftertaste. Modest but spicy hopping. Prickly on the tongue with alcohol. Quite acidic. Definitely a warming brew. Not overpoweringly cloying, but it is slightly. A couple of these would do. A very tasty beer, but I've had Scotch ales that I like better. This one, I think, would really benefit from some aging.

Draught @ Papago Brewing
A new creation by Papago Brewing Co., and Ron the "Master Brewer", the beer is actually brewed at Sonora, and served on tap at Papago, my most favorite "Watering Hole".

The color a deep translucent brown with a majestic light tan head that is semi-creamy, as it ever so slowly dissipates, the lace forms a tight and sticky sheet to conceal the glass. Nose is sweet malt, caramel, and a "Wee Bit Of Smoke", light peat tone also notices, crisp and oh so fresh from the tap, start is scrumptiously sweet, delightful malt profile, and the top middling in its feel to the palate. Finish is delectable in its acidity, the hops powerful but not overly so, just pleasantly spicy and the hint of smoke adds much to the flavor of this beer, quite dry aftertaste and a word of caution, you don't get the slightest hint of the 7.2 percent ABV, which just might sneak up on you after your third mug or so, and I know from practical experience. So if your in the neighborhood, stop in a try a "Wee Smokey" and give yourself a treat, thanks Ron, another Scottish Ale on my list, and a new favorite beer at Papago.
