Cousin to Elsie's, Coconut Joe matches the bite of roasted coffee with a hint of coconut sweetness on the finish. Our most popular dark beer, and approachable for light beer drinkers.

Pours super dark with fading head. Nice stout with strong notes of coffee and sweet coconut. 5.5% abr, smooth and malty.

Had a pint at the Papago bar. Lovely coffee aroma followed by a clean coconut flavor and background cocoa malt. It's borderline sweet, but that's well balanced for the style. Overall a fun, well-designed beer.

On tap at the brewery. Dark and opaque with no head. Smell is coffee and light coconut. Taste is more of the same, with the sweet coconut coming on stronger in the taste. The coconut is not at all artificial. Feel is a bit light for a stout. Overall I was quite impressed.

Light tan head. Dark brown black in color.
Big toasted coconut flavor. Silky milk chocolate. Creamy and smooth. Roasted malts with some coffee. Some sweetness. Light to medium bodied.
Easy to drink. Very enjoyable.

Solid coconut-laced brew here that hits all the right flavor notes, is perhaps a touch quiet on the nose (though still pleasant), and suffers only from a noticeable thinness. This is sort of like a blue collar version of OB's Death by Coconut. Good stuff, but a touch more body would do wonders.

Poured a deep black body with a thin cap of foam, but no real head. Overall impression of appearance is of a nice body for a stout, but with a slightly disappointing head. Scents of coconut, rich fresh ground coffee, mocha, light diacetyl butter aromas and hints of chocolate. Overall impression of aroma is of a nice coffee stout, aided by vanilla, with a richness added by the diacetyl. Not a typical stout, but nice. Flavor begins with notes of coconut, roast malt, fresh ground coffee and mocha, with a light sweetness. Middle opens up further coconut, aided and balanced by roast malt, rich dark coffee and mocha. Finish is lightly dry, with notes of coconut, mocha, dark roast coffee and a light sourness, roast malt and sweetness. Aftertaste is rich black coffee and coconut. Overall impression of flavor is of a good coffee stout, aided by the coconut. Not outstanding, but not bad. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a drying feel. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a good stout, nothing odd. Overall this is a pretty good stout. It's aided by the coffee and oatmeal which contribute a good aroma and flavor. Mouthfeel aids the flavor. Not bad.
