Full black colour with a modest beige head that leaves pretty lacing. Smell of caramel, milk chocolate and hops. Taste of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, caramel, wood and yeast. I'm not tasting any fruit flavours in this stout, from esters nor hops. Swallow is mildly dry and bitter with some hints of smoke and roast. Mouth feel is full and smooth. Nice beer.

33cl bottle. Looked just fine for a stout, dark brown-black color with two fingers of firm tan head that retained excellently, lacing the glass quite a bit. Dark roasty malt in the nose, bakers' chocolate, metallic. Taste of dark malts, raw cocoa bringing in an obvious bitterness, ash, burnt wood, celery, mineral, metallic with none-to-subtle notes of oxidation. This was not a very smooth stout. Medium body, harsh and bitter mouthfeel. Just really messy and not anything I like in a stout.

I got this beer form my BA buddy Jeffo (Jeff) who lives in Holland. He became a few westvleteren 8 in return for the actual price i had paid for.
To be quit honest; i am not a stout beer lover. Jeffo however was confident that this one would change my mind. And it did!
Poured in a witbier glass the beer gives an enourmous bubbly head. The fluid is very darkred to brown.
The smell was better than average, the burned malt is on the front of the smell. For the rest some coffee and my daughter smelled some caramel
The first taste was a strong one and after that the beer got smoother and smoother. A very nice and tastefull beer with a good mouthfeel.

A new brewery near where I live. This is their first beer, with more varieties to come.
Found this one at Bert's Bierhuis in Utrecht.
From a very well-designed 750ml bottle into a snifter.
APPEARANCE: Pours a two finger medium tan head with good retention. Dark brown from the bottle and almost black in the glass, with medium carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a healthy film cap leaving some immediate lacing. A wisp remains and leaves some lacing down the glass. Good looking beer, but needs to be a touch darker for the style.
SMELL: Some roasted malt and smoky qualities with hints of chocolate as well. Touches of raisins and dates as well as some spicy Belgian yeast. Definitely a Belgian style stout.
TASTE: Roasted malts and some dark fruits up front. Sweet raisins and dates with some yeasty spicy notes as well. Moves into a mildly bitter chocolate finish with pure cocoa notes. Aftertaste is mild but pleasant, including bitter chocolate, roasted malts and some spiciness. A nice Belgian stout profile, and slightly bolder than the nose had suggested.
PALATE: Medium body with medium carbonation. Semi-creamy, goes down smooth and finishes slightly dry on the palate.
OVERALL: A great first effort from this young local brewery. This is their first beer, and it's certainly a worthwhile addition to the brewing world. It's a very Belgian style stout, thus putting it under the Foreign/Export Stout category. The palate could be creamier and thicker and the nose a little bolder, but this was still a very drinkable and enjoyable brew. I look forward to trying more of their stuff in the future. Recommended.
