On tap at Local Habit in San Diego. They call this a "Scottish session ale." Hazy dark amber in the pint shaker. Modest spritzy feel on the tongue and a low foamy cap.
A pleasant understated fruitiness with orange and vanilla notes. Grainy and toasty. I guess this actually does have some hints of smoky malt but it's a little dishwatery and soda tasting. Without any malt to keep you company the bitter aftertaste is rather severe.
This is really light bodied but in a pleasant way. It's quite swillable but hard to find much of the Scottish iispiration.

On tap at Tony's Darts Away in Burbank, CA.
Pours a murky honey orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, and nutty aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel, toast, and nutty flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of toasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty and light but the aromas on this one are a bit subdued.
