on tap at Haven Gastropub Orange.... a little thick and sweeter than I liked. some whisky flavor in the background, malty and toffee... it was alright but just blended in with the other offerings I was enjoying, I guess..... didn't stand out in any way but had a lot of alcohol....

On tap at the Noble Ale Works 3rd Anniversary Party held at Noble Ale Works in Anaheim, CA.

Described as an American Strong Ale (Schmutz) aged since 9/12/12 in two different rye whiskey barrels with Brett. This is Barrel 2.

Pours a murky orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, toast, brown sugar, caramel, rye whiskey, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with rye whiskey and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of wood bitterness and an alcohol kick on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and sticky mouthfeel. Overall, this is a very good beer with a better smell than Barrel 1, but I prefer Barrel 1's taste over this one.
