i tend to avoid triple ipas, but the aromas on this beast lured me in to a snifter. little head on a pale golden brew, the citra hops jump out with sweet orange, mango, and pink grapefruit. there is boozy sweetness from this 12% ale, but i was pleases when the bittering hops returned to to dry out the palate at the end. carbonation is lower, but since yeast has a harder time excreating bubbles as the abv rises, no real surprise there. would be hard to drink loads of this beer as it packs a full punch to be sure, though it is a pleasant glass.

Excellent, very citrusy. Shockingly smooth for such a large beer.

Small snifter at Noble Ale Works. Golden and crystal clear, minimal lacing. Mango sweet buttery pineapple nose. Tiny bubble effervescence and velvet on the palate. Sweet tropical mango hop profile w light alcohol and balanced bitterness. Overall very tasty triple, luxurious and sweet but short of cloying older brother of the citra shower. Get some.

[citrus paradisi]

4 oz. taster from the source, Noble Ale Works tasting room.

Pours a bright hazy golden color, with tiny foam suds around the outside of the glass.

Diving right in, the smell is not surprisingly citrus heavy, lots of lemon scents, with some grapefruit notes to boot. Holy mole, this thing smells hoppy!

Taste is exquisite, so much lemon, grapefruit and orange flavors, felt like I was drinking fruit juice, in a good way! What surprised me most was the low level of bitterness on this Triple IPA, was an easy drinker that even an IPA hater could get behind. (I confirmed that last point with my lady, who makes that "ugh/ahh/gross" bitter face every time she drinks one).

Only gripe would be on the mouthfeel, the carbonation was slightly lacking, but in all, this is a damn fine India Pale Ale and a great way to really taste the greatness of the Citra hop. Too bad they probably won't be bottling this brew.

- 4 oz. pour off tap into tasting snifter at the Tasting Room on 30-Dec-14

Looks thicker/juicier than other IPA's. Nice Citra aromas. The flavors of dank Citra follows suit, but the body is a bit too syrupy and the heat is a bit overwhelming in the finish. Hoppy bitterness in the finish as well.

Compared to other TIPA's, this one is not refined like PtY or Alpine's EH, but it's still way better than KD's Simtra. Probably on par with ES's Power Plant. The fact that this is a true Citra TIPA makes this unique, at least to me. Looking forward to more of this, especially if they lighten the body!
