LOOK: Impressive head, clear crimson
SMELL: Minty, taffy, toasted biscuits, caramel, fallen apples, evergreen, earthy, citric rind
TASTE: Malty, sweet, creamy, fullish body, toasted grain, caramel, mildly biscuity, faint char, hop bitterness, balanced, warming alcohol, plums, herbal, leafy, semidry hoppy finish
Not a massive beer, but it does throw its muscle around with both malt and hops. This brew is reminiscent of the bold American Red Ales of the mid- to late-1990s, when a heavy hand of flavor and balance were key. Kudos to Noble Ale Works for the creation of this brew.

Pours murky brown copper, lighter brown in the light. A big khaki head is quick to recede with spotty lacing, not much retention.
Smell is toasted bread malts, piney hops and a hint of sweetness that seems to compliment the others.
Taste is similar, not quite caramel malt, with a piney hop tang. Good flavors well balanced.
A very smooth and silky beer. The light-medium body is very nice to drink.
This gets better as it goes. Looks cloudy and brown, but the smell and taste are very nice, while the texture is the best.

Bomber style, consumed on premise at Java Joe's. On to the beer:
Crimson colored beer with short and somewhat creamy foam on top. A few tirckles of lace sticks around the glass. There is some doughy, bready malt in the nose, doses of pines, and a good slap of resin mixed with the maltiness.
The first part of the taste is a wonderful melange of orange, toffee, dark bread, pine, and brown sugar. The complexity thins out some as the sip is prolonged, less citrus and a little more resin. Nonetheless, the flavor remains good. It's got a good, medium-heavy body, and alcohol that remains hidden well.
Like the Noble IPA, Alpha Red is good stuff. It's worth the purchase.

On tap at Noble ale Works. Poured into a plastic half pint cup. It seems like more than a half pint. Has a nice dark amber color. Hazy. Off white thin head and nice lacing.
Aroma is lacking again on this one. Could use some more of that amber malt aroma and some hop aroma but you can smell a bit of citrus and some amber maltiness.
Taste is awesome. One of the better reds I've had. I would say it's very similar to my favorite red from three floyds but missing some of the aroma they get. Nice malty red flavor but with a nice hop flavor too. Nice hop bite in the finish. I like my reds hoppy.
Mouthfeel is nice and balanced. But a bit more on the dry side because of the hops which I like. Nice carb.
Overall this is one of the better reds out there. I think their adjusting their recipes well and starting to fine tune them based on the previous reviews I have seen here. Gunna have to come back here often.

I heard about his brewery here in Vegas and drove to Anaheim to pick some up.
The Alpha Red in my opinion is one of my top 5 Red Ales. For a 7.2 ABV the taste was amazing it wasn't as bitter as I expected. It was very drinkable. I would make the drive again

A: poured a dark amber brown in color with reddish yellow highlights and had a thin bubbly head leaving good lacing sticking to the glass.
S: some nuttiness comes out in the nose with lots of sweet maltiness, faint hops, caramel, and a little toasty character.
T: the hop character was more apparent on the taste alongside nutty, caramel, pecan accents but had a touch of citrus and booze.
M: the brew was light in body with a moderate amount of carbonation which had a sweet, nutty, mild citrusy, and bitter finish.
D: it was a very drinkable amber brew that was a little bit more bitter than usual for the style but was pretty tasty.

S: Quite a bit of toasted malt aroma to this one. Some pine hop notes, a mild roasted malt character, and just a bit of citrus. A decent sweetness in the form of bread, caramel, and toffee.
T: A nice sweetness to the flavor (more than I was anticipating from the nose). There's a creamy toffee/caramel note that balances out the pine and citrus peel hop flavor and bitterness.
M: The body is medium with a slight creaminess and a moderate to high level of carbonation.
