Handsome dark copper red color with plenty of foam in the Zundert goblet. Average carbonation, could some more with the weight of the malt. Very pleasant malty flavor with some sweet caramel but enlivened with cocoa and date tastes. There's a slight bitter edge and a clean, clear tangy finish. Rather fruity in an interesting way with just a bit of astringency. There must be hops somewhere, but this is quite different from the common amber hop mess. Here's another warm and stylish red ale that could change my opinion on this Red/Amber category. From the 16 oz can purchased at O'Shea Brewing. Not dated.
