500ml bottle from SuperValu, Lisnaskea (£2.50):
Black with a large, light tan head about 2.5cm & foamy with a little stuck to the sides. It's a dark nose with malts & roasted notes but it's pretty basic & one dimensional thus far. The taste is much the same tbh, some roasted & toasted flavours again, a little bread malt & not a lot else, it's pretty weak. The body is somewhere around medium with a tang & more carbonation that expected but its really disappointing; the Oyster Stout version was miles better.

#1766 - Blind-tasted except for the beer's name and brewery/country, zero reviews below read (yet!)...
L- Superficially black but held up to a window it is *ultra* deep chestnut brown. Pours with a 2mm mid tan cap of fine bubbles. ps 5mins later, holds very well.
S- Notably roasty-toasty grains.
T- Dry, from hops + a dry 'carbonic' edge of CO2 (as with soda water). Then comes charry/toasty. All in quite pungent...
F- ... and as I've seen with some other recent lower ABV% black beers, when the flavour is relatively pungent and the ABV% low then the Feel seems to tend to come across a thin.
O- I find the dry hops/CO2 aspect rather dominant and the Feel or any suggestion of richness to 'reward the palate' absent. So all a bit austere for me. Now if you a fan of black beer this might work for you as a session beer, or perhaps as a summer beer, where it's lighter style would not be too heavy-going.
500ml bottle BB: 02/2022 £4.10 Bought from BeautifulBeers/BurySt.Edmunds as part of a large pick-your own consignment to London. Very expensive for what I've made of it; not one I buy again.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
