A decent example of the hoppy dankness mated with darkness. Color is a lovely dark chestnut with a long-lasting off-white foam in the Bitburger Pils glass. Medium body with a frothy mouthfeel. Tastes like a Schwartzbier gone bad with the hop hoodlums.
Some slight malty sweetness. Rather austere dark grain flavors. There is a touch of wintergreen flavor along with the usual herbal tea. Not overly bitter at first, but it grows more bitter in the aftertaste. Hops are just very leafy and vegetal. Purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham, Wash.
