Doug FIRocious is an exceptionally well balanced IPA. By that I mean that It has plenty of hop but with a solid malt backbone. It is smooth but still raises the bumps on the back of your tongue. My only quibble is that with it''s high ABV if have to consume it in moderation or I find myself drifting off into dreamland .

Thankfully, a.non-citrusy IPA offering from anybody. Full disclosure, I was prejudiced against Gilgamesh based on previous experiences with other offerings. Nice pine and spice in the hops, no off after taste, sip after sip. Makes me feel warm and glowey without making my stomach feel heavy and weighted. This beer has put Gilgamesh back on my radar. Good beer.

Hated 22oz bottle poured into 12oz tulip. Poured a lightly hazy dark amber color with about a half-inch of just off-white head that had OK retention and very good lacing.

The aroma was traditional American ImpIPA; solidly malty, a wee bit of sweetness, and some solid hops.

Very similar flavor profile, malty and bitter citrus dominant.

The body was appropriately solid for a beer this size.

Drinkability was good, no issues, but also nothing that will make me seek it out again. Overall, a solid take on the style, worth a shot if you see it.

Picked up a six-pack of cans at Plaid Pantry, Nice thick frothy head, minimal carbonation. Aromatics are minimal. Clean, coppery malt overpowering any hop subtleties. Lively on the palate with lingering, refreshing sweetness. Delicious and easy drinking, but still living up to the moniker at nearly 9%.

Hazy amber with one finger of dense bone color head that lasts a good ten minutes and leaves lots of fine bubble lace.
The smell is pine resin and toasted bread crust.
The taste is piney hop resins with a strong and sweet caramel malt support.
The mouthfeel is medium with adequate carbonation. The finish is balanced and very lightly dry.
Overall an easy drinking and mellow brew for the style.

22 oz glass bomber from a local Mom and Pop style convienience store $3.99 Pours a burnt orange colour body with a huge thick and frothy cream coloured hed. Aroma of spruce tip and lemon zest hops with a deep caramel maltiness. Strong yet well balanced taste..the resin, dankness and spruce well balanced by a robust toffee maltiness. Very nice mouth feel..thick and glorious. Overall a very nice balanced IIPA.

Handsome dark orange-amber color with a fine frothy foam in the Affligem chalice. Scent of orange blossoms. Cedar and citrus peel. Sudsy mouthfeel with an acidic touch.

Orange marmalade flavor, complete with the bitter peel. Rather sweet, but the sugar goes well with the woody dark flavors and the abundant bitterness. A dose of grapefruit in the aftertaste. Rated at 87 IBUs but it's plenty drinkable. Yet another tasty Double IPA. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham.
