excellent new ipa from these guys, i guess i havent had that much of their hoppy stuff really, but this is unique and well done, sabro hops, a nice expression of them in a real drinkable brew, even sort of a new zealand thing to this, just so bright! bold for being a fresh hop brew, and with some bitterness too, maybe some pellets were used for that, but a really nice sabro profile on this, orange and tangerine zest, ripe melon in its essence, cut flowers, and dried mango and apricot, quite fruity but also botanical, and the freshness is obvious. the beer is very pale, a super light golden tone to it, clearer but not perfectly so, average white head on top. the aroma and flavor are citrus dominated but with plenty of nuance, an almost hash oil thing makes it permeate the tongue, but its not overly intense, it fact it almost drinks like a modern pale ale with middle of the road bitterness and a very light, crisp, clean, and minimal malt base, fermented down close to zero and without any yeast coming through, its all about the hops, and rightly so, this is an awfully pure sabro experience, for those still not familiar with them, a great showcase, even a few months or more after they were picked, which is especially impressive. i like the light body and high carbonation but the cool weedy hop residual this lingers with. definitely one of the better fresh hop beers i had this year, perhaps saving the best for last! nice. i wish a little more of their one off releases came through boise...
