his had a finger of deep-brown head that was a distant memory by the time that I was ready to drink it. Color was a deep, dark brown with ruby highlights. Nose was entirely milk chocolaty! Mouthfeel was medium with a milk chocolate flavor on the tongue. Dang, this was good, but given that I had drank so many other malt-driven beers before it, my hops jones was starting to kick in! Finish was nicely chocolaty with a hint of smoke and would make a good accompaniment to the right dessert.

I am sampling a growler filled at the brewpub and poured into a snifter at cellar temperature.
The beer pours a rich chocolate brown color with creamy densely packed tan head of 2 cm foaming up that fades to a sturdy edge layer. This ring of foam remains throughout my sampling. The aroma of the beer is rich chocolate notes and some light roasted notes, no booze is present here and a bit of herbal hops show up too.
The first sip reveals an average body with very fine and gentle rolling carbonation. Easy drinking texture.
Flavor is what is advertised in the nose, all malt and a little sweet. I get hits of cocoa and some roasted malt notes. There is just a bit of sweet brown sugar and then the beer is gone. Very easy to drink with only a faint sweet note after each swallow. Im enjoying this beer as a malty and would drink it again on my next visit to the pub. I think the tripel makes a better growler fill though.
