A blonde ale for the summer. No raspberries in this one, in case anyone is wondering. At the brewpub.
A: The blonde ale is blonde, appropriately enough. A light yellow color, hazy, to be precise. The haze is to the level of opacity. No head.
S: The aromas are mild, refreshing if not lacking character. Malts, biscuity with a notable sweetness, are paired with a stronger than expected hop finish (again, the hops are light but stronger than I was anticipating, get it?).
T: More light sweetness, again malt driven with a suggestion of vine fruits. As the softness passes, hops ramp up and leave a strong wall of bitterness behind, strong enough to be noticed but not IPA strong. The lightness of the ale lasts, aiding in its refreshing quality. The alcohol level, while never evident, surprised me.
M: The mouthfeel is clean, sweet and driven. A good introductory ale, it set my palate up for the rest of the night.
