500 mL brown bottle, 2 months old. Red ale with buckwheat honey.
Rich reddish brown colour with a creamy beige cap. Lace clings to the glass.
Grainy, malty aroma with spicy hop notes.
The dominant flavour is a dry, slightly astringent graininess. Hop bitterness is subdued, but there is a definite citrusy character to it reminiscent of grapefruit. Nutty, caramel malt in the background. Finishes overly dry. Body is quite thin, and carbonation is high.
Not unpleasant but nothing worth seeking out and, as usual with La Barberie, not to style.
