Opaque black with a light tan head. Aromas are sweet and berry-like with some roasted malt aromas in the mix as well. This is a buckwheat stout and the fruity aromas really shine through here. The taste is roasty, and fruity with a nice balance between the buckwheat (or soba) and the roasted malts. Some chocolate and coffee flavors are present on the finish as well. The mouthfeel is nice and creamy, but a bit thin for my tastes, and the drinkability is very good. My first (of many) from Barberie and a good introduction as well!
