Poured on cask at the brewery, had with their tequila lime chicken and shrimp, maybe not the best pairing but they were both independently great.

Surprised me when they said they had this going at this time of the year. Poured a very nice looking pint creamy tan head coming up to only 1 finger, black as a cat, with mahogany tinge at the edge.

Smell was somewhat underwhelming, not too much at play here, some black patent, little bitter chocolate not much else to offer though.

Taste improved though, nice rounded coffee flavor, some of that chocolate coming through. Dark roasted grains, maybe chicory (Cafe Du Monde).

Mouthfeel had to get a 4, on cask is the only way with certain pints, so creamy and wonderful, not too much carbonation to spoil the flavor.

I had heard about this beer in the Yankee Brew News paper as being one of ABC's new beers, and was happy to see it on tap on Thursday evening. Color was black, with not much head...just some white carbonation floating around the top. Smell was much mroe similar to an imperial stout if you ask me. When I tasted it however, It definitly had the oatmeal stout characteristics, but it seemed much bigger in body, and had some coffee going on in there too. Perhaps this one has a heightened alcohol content. I only had a chance to get one, as it was approaching last call, but I hope to be ablw to try it again soon. Highly recommended along with their chocolate porter and doppelbock, which are also now on tap. Cheers
