From a 16oz can, undated, purchased at the brewery. Served in a nonic.
Colour is opaque mahogany, with maybe a quarter-finger of creamy beige suds off a violent pour.
Smell is roasted malt and cherries, almonds, leather and dusty sofa.
Despite smelling (faintly) of dusty sofa, the taste is clean and bright, dead-neutral between bitter and sweet. A little baking chocolate, a little charred coffee grinds, but mostly just simple, uncomplicated, lightly roasted malt with a slightly fruity cherries-and-oranges, mildly dry, bitter finish.
Mouthfeel is smooth and clean, medium-light bodied and just barely adequately carbonated.
Overall, an easy drinking, better than decent, unpretentious stout.

"Dark, rich, hearty and smooth with a chocolatey flavor."
Coating lace from a lasting head throughout the tasting. Near black color--no light passes.
Lots of mocha and chocolate smells, but not sweet.
Rich body, slightly oily. Dark chocolate taste with no sweetness. Light background hop that provides some interest and balance. Dark cherry flavor in the background. This is not an extreme Imperial.
