Notes: Imperial Stout aged in our Maple Syrup Bourbon Barrels

This imperial stout was brewed with Vermont maple syrup and aged in bourbon barrels previously used to age Vermont maple syrup and contains unfermented residual sugar from the barrel-aging process. As a result of this process, we offer this beer on draft intending for it to be consumed, shared and enjoyed within 2 weeks of sale. Do not age this product.

500ml bottle at share. Dark brown pour, flat, thin ring if beige head. Maple dominates the aroma. Taste brings it all together, chocolate, roast malts and more maple.. Superb.

500ml bottle, Hill Farmstead stemmed glass. Dark black body, has a light chocolate colored head measuring one finger, fair retention, no lacing. Smell is big milk chocolate and maple syrup sweetness, touch of molasses. Smooth whiskey background, a bit of mild roast. Flavour follows, nice smooth maple sweetness balanced by a bit of espresso and roast, wet bourbon. So nice and complex. Full bodied, viscous and chewy, almost to the point that it gets a bit syrupy. Delicious. Enjoyed this rendition more than the original one.

Phenomenal! Exactly what a amazing barrel aged maple syrup stout should be. Drank this before Mornin Deight release and I would've taken bottles of this all day in my car over MD on tap. Hill Farmstead is the absolute real deal with stouts. I've been blown away by the qaulity and depth of both. With seemingly only a handful of ingredients.

Enjoyed on draft from a tulip glass at StoutFest 2017 -Armsby Abbey
Pours a nice dark brown with a slight khaki head. The nose on this beer is straight up maple syrup. So sweet, almost like smelling it straight from the bottle. The taste follows the nose. After my first sip, I thought maybe this was a bit to sweet, but as it sat, and I enjoyed sip after sip, the bourbon came out, and balanced the sweetness perfectly. Thick and creamy, you cant get much of a better mouthfeel than this. Simply an amazing beer. One of the best I have tried.

Had this a while ago. It pours out like old motor oil. The smell is great with a nice punch of maple and bourbon. The taste is a little on the sweet side but has a lot going on. It lingers around for a long time. Great beer that I can't wait until they brew again!

Jet black color with light head. Nose is a sweet roastyness. The taste is holy shit maple syrup. Drink it more and it blends into a beautiful a maple sweet bourbon stout. The feel is thick and not surprisingly, very syrupy. Overall a fantastic flavorful stout.

750ml growler poured into a Lambic.info geuze tumbler.

A~ black with a dark tan fluffy head and a little lacing.

S~ mostly extremely sweet maple syrup followed by a little roasted malt.

T~ follows the nose way less roasted malt here... sweet as could be with slight vanilla and charred oak from the bourbon.

M~ extremely clawing and syrupy. slight carb.

O~ its like drinking the HF BA maple syrup straight... and i should know! i've done that plenty of times haha! while it is delicious i like some beer in my beer... i would have been happier putting this on some waffles haha

So glad I got to try this one - what a treat. Lots of barrel and lots of maple. With all of the maple, this could have been too sweet, but there was still a nice balance, like all of HF's beers.

750 mL bottle. Inky black with a khaki head. Smells of heavily roasted malt. Very sweet. I really don't get a ton of maple, which is surprising. Some bourbon. Tastes outrageously sweet. I definitely get maple this time around. Like drinking maple syrup. Heavy roasted malts behind the maple syrup lends some chocolate. Bourbon is lost. Heavy and immensely sweet. It's almost undrinkable, but I admit that in tiny quantities it's pretty tasty.

If you have ever randled a beer using Hill Farmstead's Barrel Aged Maple Syrup, you will get a sense of what is going on with this beer. Very sweet up front on the palate with a characteristic roast and sugar/soy sauce nose that accompanies Hill stouts. Overall, a very tasty beer, one that distractingly plays into the adjunct-loving palate of recent craft beer enthusiasts and surprisingly misses the nuance of balance that has come to define HF beers.

Wow! Really glad I walked in to this on my first trip to HFS. The way the maple stands is incredible, slightly sweet almost no alcohol taste. One of the best most unique beers I have ever had! This makes Goose Island Burbon County look like an embarrassment.

Poured from a 750 mL growler, filled on 11/25/16 (2 days ago) at the brewery.

A: Pours like thick motor oil and leaves a finger of brown head that lingers for a little before fading to a brown ring around the glass.

S: Maple syrup, brown sugar, dark chocolate, light campfire.

T: Milk chocolate, maple, caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, bourbon. Sweet but not overly.

M: Full, thick, sticky body. Light carb that helps lift it up a bit.

O: This is a great one to really sip and savor. The maple, chocolate and sweet caramel/toffee flavors come together nicely and the mouthfeel is fantastic. Great winter stout.

This beer is amazing. Had 2 4 oz pours in the tasting room, first was so good I drank it cold. Second one, I let warm up. Thick rich chocolately head, 2". Maple and Bourbon on the nose - pure heaven. Taste was absolutely fantastic both cold and warmer - very nice balance between bourbon, maple and stout flavors. When warmed, the maple opened up with a bit more complexity and a bit more dominance over the bourbon; bourbon was not that different between warm and cold. Thick, luscious mouthfeel. It's been two years since I've had Good Morning, but that's what this reminds me of most. But with bourbon, so possibly better. Would love to be able to do a side by side comparison.
