Notes:
Flora is the wine barrel-aged version of Florence, our grandfather’s sister as well as the name of our Farmstead® wheat ale. We selected a single barrel of Flora and aged it atop fresh raspberries from nearby Elmore Roots Nursery and elderberries from our next door neighbors at Thornhill Farm. Bright, ruby raspberry and crisp, drying elderberries balance with Flora’s singular elegance to epitomize the elements from which it was shaped. Native elderberries have long been revered for their holistic, health benefits.

This one pours a golden amber reddish color, with a small head, and a lot of lacing.
This smells like seedy and jammy strawberry, oak, herbal funk, rhubarb, and an intriguing sort of earthiness.
The aroma on this one outstripped the flavor, but the taste was still...tasty. The elderberries add a sort of earthy funk that's kind of like a cross between rhubarb, juniper and maybe like cranberry? It might be too earthy for some, but I enjoy it. The raspberry is super clean, jammy, and fresh tasting, even with a few years on this one.
This is light bodied, juicy on the palate, with a solid drinkability to it.
Regular Flora Raspberry might be slightly better than this one, but it's still very tasty, and certainly one of the more unique Flora fruited variants.
