Tight bubbles on a frothy white head, opaque yellow gold body. Smell is melon, honeydew, gummy worms, earthy, onion, mango. Taste is luscious and sweet melon in the beginning, followed by dank leafiness and then citrus rind. Smooth silky creamy mouthfeel, effervescent. Absolutely delicious

Ripe melon up front followed by grape must, light garlic and mushroom (not like catty Citra, more like a noble hop), roasted pine nuts, a punch of sweetness mid-palette, and a return of melon with a tinge of pithy bitterness on the finish. Throughout the sip, I get an atmospheric citrus presence.
White wine character reminds me of Nelson, garlic reminds me of tettnang, nuttiness is unique among hops I've had, and the melony sweetness reminds me of Galaxy/Mosaic. I understand why they chose to do a single hop with Riwaka; its profile brings a lot to the table.
As usual with HF, the body is never too thick nor saccharine, the carb is perfect, and the liquid is vibrant mix of light orange and straw gold and leaves intense white lacing.
Wonderful

Poured from a 12 oz can into a stemmed tulip glass.
Pours an opaque golden orange color with a finger of fluffy white head. The head hangs around for a while, leaving a beautiful crown of lacing before settling into a thin layer of foam.
The aroma brings some very sweet tropical notes up front; namely overripe mango, pineapple, guava, and honeydew melon. Then comes a very subtle wave of citrus before an absolute onslaught of dank: Weedy, earthy, and oniony.
The flavor is quite odd. Lots of tropical fruits up front but then you get absolutely assaulted by earthy, herbaceous green onions, broccoli, basil, garlic, and cracked pepper. Not terrible, but definitely not for everyone.
The feel is medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Creamy and smooth. The alcohol is present but only just.
Overall, this is a decent and interesting DIPA. It's a bit sweet right up front but it's just incredibly herbaceous and dank overall. If you don't like onion or garlic or vegetal notes in your beer you'd do well to stay far away from this one.

Hill Farmstead Brewery - Double Riwaka
Style: Double Ipa Abv: 8,0%
Single hop DIPA with Riwaka hops? It's quite rare!
It pours very hazy deep yellow color. Strong and long-lasting head retention leaves some laces. Very intense tropical and tangerine-like citrusy aroma. In addition to this aroma, I've felt basil-like herbal notes which is only unpleasant thing about this perfect beer. Taste is highly fruity, orange-like citrus and melon-like sweet fruits are dominant. Very smooth, moderate bitterness and sweet tropical fruity taste are in balance. Creamy mouthfeel, it's very drinkable and amazingly smooth in spite of high Ibu and high Abv. Very impressive DIPA from famous Hill Farmstead.

I tried this beer at the Farm House restaurant in downtown Burlington, VT. It poured a hazy orangish with white head that left some lace. The scent had a melon like peel spice. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with subtle fruit peel spice. The mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.

poured from a 12oz can into a perennial willi becher glass. pours a hazy orange with a pinky finger of white head. smells earthy green onions, grass, pepper, ripe cantaloupe. incredible nose on this one. taste follows with an explosion of dank, citrusy hops. mouthfeel is on par with all the HF “Double” series - soft, approachable and perfectly carbonated. overall, this is an excellent DIPA. Riwaka seems like it contains certain aspects of citra, nelson & galaxy. you get citrusy fruits, earthy tones and super dank notes. would definitely drink again.
