Not sure if I should have listed this one under American IPA or Smoke Beer...
Shaun was kind enough to share the following background info on this pleasant one off I feel fortunate to have tried..
"It was the brew immediately following the Holger Danske and we had a small amount of smoked malt (that anders had smoked) remaining and also pitched the yeast from the Holger... smokey yeast, small amount of smoked malt= smoked ipa."
Appearance: Pours an orange tinged honey...quite transparent and slightly dull. The crown is 1 finger, a bit buttery / hop oily yellow stained, shows moderate retention, and good lace.
Smell: Lightly smoked pale malt, lemon grass and sumptuous floral hops.
Taste: Much more herbal hop bite than the nose suggested. The hop bite does muscle out the pleasant subtleties I found so readily available in the nose a bit. Fortunately the light smoke still comes through enough to add enjoyable complexity.
Mouthfeel: Medium body and medium carbonation.
Drinkability: So sessionable (4.7 if I could)
