On tap @ the Blackback Pub & Flyshop (Waterbury, VT) on 2/18/11. Served in a tulip glass.
Pours a hazed apricot, with a finger of bright-white head. Good looking retention on this, with a rich flare-up that stays strong and leaves back a ton of soapy lacing down the sides of the glass. The aroma is floral and leafy (and a touch piney) with a bright smelling under layer of citric hops that meshes well with those sugary sweet grains that sits in the back of the nose. This is quite fresh and tasty feeling in the nostrils.
The taste keeps things going, with that fresh and bright citrus character bringing it strong (grapefruit and orange are really sticking out at me). There isn't an overt amount of bitterness here but the hop flavors in general just bring a zesty breeziness to the profile that really lends this quite a refreshing quality. The malts do a good job of cutting any bitterness that is present while still keeping the hops at the forefront before this heads into a crisp and dry finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a touch sharp up front be mellowing out considerably into an awesome smooth creaminess. I'm not sure of the ABV on this but it felt around in the 5-6% range, as this had no discernable alcohol being present yet still had some body to it as well.
This was another good single hop IPA put out from Hill Farmstead. I was really digging on this Pacifica hop as well, as while it didn't bring a ton of bitterness to the table, there's no doubt that it provides enough of a fresh and tangy citrus character to keep this quite crisp, refreshing, and all around drinkable. I could have easily downed a few glasses of this. Very nice!

Another growler as an extra? Sounds good to me. Thanks, Todd!
A: The pour is definitely murky. Burnt orange in color with a white head that sticks quite nicely to the glass.
S: Smells different, but I sort of expected that since this is my first encounter with Pacifica hops. Definitely some citrus, but there's a sharp grassiness and maybe even a bit of blue cheese. A strong aroma of pine is present as well.
T: The taste is better than the nose, I think. A nice bitterness to go with some pine, grass, and fresh tangerine an grapefruit flesh and definitely some rinds as well. Not really much malt flavor to this beer at all.
M: The body is medium with a fairly low carbonation, but that's likely due to the growler.
D: Not as good as the Abner growler I drank yesterday, but sort of a different beast. Not sure that I'm too crazy about Pacifica as a hop, though.
