On tap at Pickwicks a few weeks ago. From my notes.

Looks nice. Reddish tan, fairly clean looking. A very few bubbles work hard to get to the surface. Pretty much no head.

Smells of bourbon, a bit of vanilla. Some mustiness to it.

Taste is light with strong bourbon. Malty and a tad sweet. No hops really. Some woodiness to it. A slightly unpleasant aftertaste. Can't quite place it. Almost like hardood sawdust.

Mouth feel is nice. Creamy, smooth, easy to sip.

Overall this is not my favorite from Trapp. Possibly past its prime as I understand it was brewed quite a while ago and was raved about then. I hope they brew it again.

Yes. Actually a bottle. Shared with sleepnbballrlife.

Bock Lager aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrel.

Pours a beautiful reddish brown with soapy thin off-white head. Crystal clear. Nose is full of rich, creamy vanilla right off the bat. Lacto-creamy aromas, bourbon is very pronounced. Faint mulch note, chestnut (props).

Palate is surprising. I was immediately reminded that this is a bock LAGER aged in BOURBON barrels. Wow. Never had anything like this. Crisp, yet creamy. Fat flavors, yet lean body. Bourbon is pronounced with caramel malt underneath and some light bittering hops to dry out the finish. Some faint biscuit malt flavors out on the finish.

This beer is not cloying at all, which is surprising given the style. An excellent experiment and I hope they brew it again. Cheers to Allen and team!

On cask poured into a plastic pint glass.

Pours a ruddy muddy brown with no head at all, but some very light off white lacing. Nose is light and a bit of bourbon.

Taste is very malty and rich but still super crisp like you'd expect for a bock. Mouthfeel is a bit light and watery, only place this is lacking although it is easy drinking.
