Poured on draft in the Trapp hotel bar (1/4/11) into a wine glass. Thin tan foam tops a gorgeous deep, fairly clear ruby red liquid.
A deep aroma of plum, woodsmoke, and nutmeg wafts off of this intense beer. Rich and complex.
The flavor immediately makes me think of Pretty Things' Baby Tree. Prune is the primary aspect of the taste profile, but a bit of frangelico, dark chocolate, and mulling spice is also present. Well-balanced bittersweetness.
The mouthfeel is rich and smooth, but not too heavy, certainly not cloying despite the amount of sweetness.
This beer goes down easily, but its richness means more than one or two would be overwhelming.

Pours a beautiful burgundy color with a one-finger head into my glass. Great way to convey the winter.
Aroma is full of rich malt with a hint of plum/cocoa in the nose. Very subtle with just a bit of alcohol.
Taste is lightly sweet with a hint of plum, raisin and just a bit of alcohol warmth.
It is very warming to the palate with lingering plum an d raisin at the back of my throat.
I enjoyed this beer. Perhaps my descriptions aren't always elaborate but regardless, you'll enjoy this if you enjoyed the other offerings from Trapp.
