16oz can poured into a SA glass

A- pours a pale clear straw color with a one-finger foamy white head that has good retention

S- lemon peel, toasted wheat, crackers. slightly peppery, maybe some grassy hops

T- that lemon character follows the nose with notes of lemon peel and lemonhead candy. Mid-palate gives some wheaty notes, along with crackers. The finish gives more lemon with a grassy linger

M- light body with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp finish

Pours a lightly hazy, light golden amber with a two finger white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of wheat, lemon, clove and citrus hops. Flavor is wheat, citrus hops, lemon juice and zest, clove and hints of mixed fruit; lemon zest finish with light to moderate bitterness. Poured into a weizen glass. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. Hard to categorize this wheat ale, there some witbier character, but also clear American wheat ale too. As indicated by the brewer, this is moderately hopped, a bit more than that latter style. The result is pleasant and bright with lots of lemon character from the hops. This can has a few months on it and I'm not getting much mixed fruit from it; the hops may have dropped off a little. A pleasant wheat base and the citrus hops are a good choice for the lighter wheat malt here. This would be a great summer lawn mowing ale. I like what they did here.

Von Trapp Brewing "Hopfen Weisse"
16 fl. oz. can "BEST BY 10/19/23" and sampled on 09/11/23
$12.99/4-pk @ % Points Beer, Montgomeryville, PA

Notes via stream of consciousness: it's poured a hazy yellow-gold body beneath a finger's width of white foam. The aroma is bright with citrusy and resins. My first thought is that it's Citra hops because they follow that path but it's also lemony. On to the taste... the hops remain dominant over a lightly sweetish, grassy/grainy, and bready malt base. I'm really at a loss on what the hops are. I get the citrus and that could be coming from some Citra and Lemondrop, but I also get a little bit of melon and soft strawberry like Huell Melon. There's some mango and lychee to it as well so now I'm completely lost but I guess you get the idea ~ wide-ranging tropical notes. Beyond the citrus and otherwise tropical fruits (some passionfruit, guava, and lime are in there as well) it's a little bit herbal and spicy. Or is that spiciness from the yeast? I'm probably wrong about this as well but it seems like Weihenstephaner hefeweizen yeast to me. There's not a lot of banana to it at all but there is some clove and a flicker of a plastic phenolic that I normally associate with the Weihenstephaner strain. Having just grated four ounces of fresh nutmeg for a pumpkin beer today I might just be imagining it but I'm also finding some nutmeg. It's a little bit tart, and moderately bitter but balanced. I find it very refreshing and almost compellingly drinkable. I've had a lot of hopped hefeweizens and they don't usually do it for me but this one works. On the other hand, it's more of a hopped beer that happens to be a hefeweizen in my mind as I don't really get a whole lot of hefeweizen character. To that point it's also fairly light in body and not that cloudy, nor is it even that carbonated. It all works, don't get me wrong, and on a hedonistic level I love it, but it's more of hop and wheat than a hefeweizen that's been hopped. Man, I love that aroma though! I'm disappointed that I didn't find this until just now, almost halfway through September, as it's an incredible choice for a summer beer.

10 oz draft pour at Frisco Taphouse in Gambrills, MD. Pours a cloudy light yellow color with a rocky head. Aroma and flavor - well, I was expecting more of a traditional hefeweizen so the dry hopping threw me a bit with unexpected floral/citrusy, bitter notes. Not much in the way of banana/clove flavors. Some light wheat, but not much. After my first sip I tried to enjoy the beer for what it is, but honestly I've had much better hoppy wheat beers and I was ready to move onto another beer after this one. YMMV.

Hopfen

Stowe Style: Hopfenweisse

von Trapp Brewing Wheat Beer Hopfenweisse

Very dry feeling with dry earthy grains and tangy hop bite. Crisp and refreshing like the style should be. Very subtle banana and dried golden wheat flavors throughout. Honestly, I used to love the Hefe style but it became a bit mundane, enter..dry hops.

On tap at Now and Later in Syracuse, NY.

This one pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like citrus, cream of wheat, lemon, banana, and grassy hops.

The HBC-586 adds a nice citrusy and berry like hop character here, along with some lemon and grassiness. There’s banana, clove, and a nice citrusy wheatiness to the base beer.

This is light bodied, slightly creamy, and very drinkable.

These collaborations have all been breweries that I really enjoy, and they’ve all tended to be quite tasty.

Purchased as part of a 4 pack.

L- Bright golden slightly hazy color. Thin
gravelly head that dissipates quickly.

S- Lemony aroma with a slight crackers
note.

T- Lively carbonation pairs well with the
citrusy flavor. Reminds me of a
Shandy.

F- Crisp, tart with a slightly dry finish.

O- I like it. A person summer sipper!

Poured from a 16oz can stamped BEST BY 10/19/23 to a Weizen at fridge temp.
Pours foggy light gold with a puffy white head. Lacing is generous.
Banana and cloves are definitely there but so is a subtle medicinal smell.
The taste has all that plus hops. These hops have a mango, peach, strawberry sense to them.
The mouthfeel is light but so is the carbonation.
Overall, the standard Hefenweizen style notes are the most prominent but the dry hopping is a nice plus. This is a style I don’t usually enjoy, but I did not mind this spin on it.

White clouded straw colored. Foamy head which leaves thick rings after each sip.

Described to me as a higher hopped wheat beer and the smell reflects this with a floral/bitter nose initially. The wheat elements are secondary but evident with clove and faint banana.

The beer has a lighter body with an elevated carbonation. Mild wheaty start but without the aforementioned clove and banana. The hop bitterness comes in slowly but dominates by the time of the swallow. Moderate length aftertaste.
